For the 2017 Christmas shopping campaign, we took the little shepherds, Lluquet i Rovelló, out of the Christmas decorations trunk for a new episode of the On visc, on compro saga. These traditional Catalan Christmas characters appeared throughout the city of Rubí to promote local shops, reciting rhyming verses in the genuine style of Folch i Torres, the playwright who brought them to life.
We really enjoyed reviving a very, very old, traditional and folkloric style, playing with the verse and rhymes typical of classical theater, but with updated content for a modern, commercial message, in which we had to highlight the values of local shopping: its proximity, its personal service, and its warmth and professionalism.
The actors who portray these two characters have, moreover, been playing the roles for more than 10 years in the local performance of the play Els Pastorets, meaning that they instantly created rapport with the hundreds of people from Rubí who had seen them perform at the theater. A closeness that was transferred directly to the campaign and helped make it work very well indeed: it received thousands of views on social media.
